Effects of injectable facial dermal fillers: an integrative review

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances injected under the skin to increase volume through a procedure that is quick to perform, low cost and lower pain levels. In this sense, this study aims to identify scientific articles that address the topic of facial dermal fillers. To this end, an integrative literature review was conducted, in which the searches took place in the Scientific Electronic Library Online database, using the descriptors "Dermal fillers" and "Facial fillers". We analyzed 6 articles conducted with different methods and published in Brazilian journals, and 50% of the publications were published by the Brazilian Journal of Plastic Surgery. It was observed that the technique can be considered one resource, among many others, to be used to promote quality of life in different cases and conditions, and can even assist in curative processes, providing well-being to people undergoing such procedures. In addition, further studies are needed to help reduce the consequences during and after the procedure.
