This virus integrates into the host cell's DNA, stimulating epithelial regulation. The wart can spread to other parts of the mucosa or skin by autoinoculation, being common in children. In mucous membranes, lesions can occur on the lips, palate, gums and tongue; They present as painless papules or nodules, with papillary, pedunculated or sessile projections, and whitish in color. This work aimed to report a clinical case of a vulgar wart in a young male patient, 13 years old, feoderm who attended the Dentistry school clinic at Faculdade Morgana Potrich (FAMP) complaining of a wart in the mouth, which was hindering the chewing and speaking, in addition to always biting the area. During intraoral examination, a lesion was presented in the middle region of the lower lips, with a sessile base, whitish color, painless, with an irregular shape measuring 5x4x4 mm, indicating a differential diagnosis of one of the types of HPV. An excisional biopsy was performed and histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of verruca vulgaris. In view of this case, it is concluded that early diagnosis and appropriate therapeutic intervention, combined with histopathological confirmation, play a crucial role in the effectiveness of the treatment. It is essential that dental surgeons carry out anatomopathological analyzes to define the diagnosis and plan a correct therapeutic intervention, related to the patient's oral health and well-being.
2025-06-26T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 REVISTA SAÚDE MULTIDISCIPLINAR https://revistas.famp.edu.br/revistasaudemultidisciplinar/article/view/869 Aflatoxin and the toxic effects on human health 2025-06-12T19:14:28+00:00 Thales Sales Cavalcante thalessalessims_021@hotmail.com Lunara Freitas lunarafreitas@fampfaculdade.com.br
Aflatoxin is a mycotoxin produced by the filamentous fungus of the genus Aspergillus sp. as one of its metabolites, found in foods such as nuts and grains. The influence of the tropical environment, temperature and humidity will induce the production of mycotoxin, especially related to inadequate food storage conditions, promoting the proliferation of the fungus and food contamination. Acute aflatoxicosis has a hepatotoxic effect due to the biodegradation of aflatoxins that occur mainly in the liver. As a result, cirrhosis, necrosis, greater vulnerability to hepatitis B, encephalopathy and death are observed. Therefore, the objective of this study was to carry out an integrative literature review regarding the effects of aflatoxin intake on human health, using articles from scientific journals focused on human health. Most of the studies investigated suggest that aflatoxicosis occurs more frequently in developing countries with tropical climates, characteristics that are consistent with Brazil. The incidence of exposure to aflatoxin in countries with a diet rich in foods favorable to fungal production is high, making it necessary for legislation to promote greater effectiveness in surveillance, rigorously applying health standards in order to reduce new infections with aflatoxin. Furthermore, the present study observed an important gap in the literature, due to the scarcity of Brazilian studies that investigated the presence of aflatoxin or blood and urinary biomarkers. Finally, more studies are still needed to better investigate symptoms to distinguish aflatoxin poisoning from other gastrointestinal poisonings.
2025-08-29T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 REVISTA SAÚDE MULTIDISCIPLINAR
