BENEFITS OF A PHYSIOTHERAPEUTIC INTERVENTION IN THE FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY OF AN INDIVIDUAL WITH PARKINSON'S DISEASE: CASE REPORT

Introduction: Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a degenerative, chronic and progressive neurological disease, with the elderly being the most affected. Objective: to describe the academic experience in the field of internship in the Neurology I sector, analyzing the changes that physical therapy can provide to the patient with Parkinson's. Methodology: This is a report, where the patient ,diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (PD) three years ago, with a main complaint of lack of balance. The treatment plan for this case was based on articles selected from Scielo, Google Scholar, PubMed (via VHL) databases. Results and discussion: the patient presented more balance, confidence when walking, body posture, having an improvement in the general condition of the patient providing a better quality of life. Conclusion: motor exercises, gait training, training in activities of daily living, relaxation therapy and breathing exercises had a positive influence on the treatment of patients with Parkinson's Disease.
