Zebrafish a versatile and effective model in study of relation to cancer and inflammation
Keywords:
Zebrafish, Inflammation, CancerAbstract
Cancer it is a broadly related to uncontrolled growth of cells that invade the organs and tissues. Efforts have been made to map out new strategies for prevention, treatment and cure. For this science has an arsenal of experimental models, which are used according to the research objectives, given the diversity of pathways to cancer intertwined. A recent model, zebrafish, are being exploited in various kinds of studies, given by their biological characteristics and their association with signaling pathways in humans, including immune system. However a large and associative approach to model the application possibilities as well as the effective use of it can promote and drive new studies. This work aimed to address associatively Zebrafish, cancer and inflammation. We conducted a retrospective descriptive study in North American database, in the last 5 years. We see a trend in the use of Zebrafish model for presenting some advantages, such as versatility, low maintenance costs and especially similarity with the signaling pathways in humans. In addition, we found a variability of applications related to cancer and inflammation, since elucidation of the pathogenesis to applications in new therapies. However the associations described herein, it is clear that the model teleost is a zebrafish valuable system for experimental analysis of oncogenes associated with inflammatory processes in vivo as well as to identify pharmacological targets of cancer and to assess antitumor therapies.
