Abstract

The eating and behavioral habits of modern society are crucial to the emergence of non-carious dental lesions, commonly divided into attrition, erosion and abrasion. Dental erosion is defined as irreversible loss of hard dental tissue, such as chemical result, without bacterial involvement caused by acids which may be intrinsic or extrinsic, which may result in dentinal hypersensitivity. This study aims to present a literature review of the associated and determinant factors for the onset of erosive lesions, gathering information on the etiology, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental erosion.
