OBJECTIVE: This study aims to identify, by means of a bibliographic review, the incidence of patients diagnosed with Kaposi's Sarcoma having as main etiological factor the human immunodeficiency virus. METHODS: A systematic search was carried out online in the North American database (PUBMED), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), and Google academic. Using descriptors such as "Kaposi's sarcoma" and "HIV". In addition, 21 articles were reviewed with the inclusion criterion of the literature published from 1999 to 2019, excluding any others below the first date and those that do not refer to AIDS-related SK. Therefore, after analyzing and passing through the aforementioned standards, 15 literary references remained for the making of this article. CONCLUSIONS: It is noteworthy that Kaposi's Sarcoma is the most frequent malignant neoplasm of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and its classification depends on the extent of the lesion, race, age and the patient's immune system. Thus, the treatment is used depending on the physical, immunological characteristics and the development of the damage. Finally, the most practical ways to prevent the development of KS are interventions aimed at preventing HIV infection that include pre-exposure prophylaxis, suppression of HIV replication and maintenance of the immune function of infected patients.
