Abstract

Autistic Spectrum Disorder is one of the Global Developmental Disorders described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Health-Related Mental Disorders, and is characterized by the impairment of social skills such as communication, interaction and behavioral learning. The main objective of this study was to describe the importance of early diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, as well as early multiprofessional therapeutic interventions. The data presented in this review demonstrate that early diagnosis and immediate treatment provide a significant evolution in adaptation, social interaction and a better cognitive development. This prognosis is given through regular therapies by a multiprofessional team that accompany the development of the autistic child. However, the need for a greater concentration of efforts is necessary so that the diagnosis and treatment of autism occur in an increasingly early manner, because the more time passes, the symptoms will be more consolidated.
