Vulgar wart is a benign focal epithelial hyperplasia caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). This virus integrates into the host cell's DNA, stimulating epithelial regulation. The wart can spread to other parts of the mucosa or skin by autoinoculation, being common in children. In mucous membranes, lesions can occur on the lips, palate, gums and tongue; They present as painless papules or nodules, with papillary, pedunculated or sessile projections, and whitish in color. This work aimed to report a clinical case of a vulgar wart in a young male patient, 13 years old, feoderm who attended the Dentistry school clinic at Faculdade Morgana Potrich (FAMP) complaining of a wart in the mouth, which was hindering the chewing and speaking, in addition to always biting the area. During intraoral examination, a lesion was presented in the middle region of the lower lips, with a sessile base, whitish color, painless, with an irregular shape measuring 5x4x4 mm, indicating a differential diagnosis of one of the types of HPV. An excisional biopsy was performed and histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of verruca vulgaris. In view of this case, it is concluded that early diagnosis and appropriate therapeutic intervention, combined with histopathological confirmation, play a crucial role in the effectiveness of the treatment. It is essential that dental surgeons carry out anatomopathological analyzes to define the diagnosis and plan a correct therapeutic intervention, related to the patient's oral health and well-being.
