Abstract

Leprosy is a chronic, infectious-contagious disease whose etiologic agent is Mycobacterium leprae. Significance and high disabling power keep disease as a public health problem. In this perspective, this case report aimed to contribute to the critical analysis of the leprosy situation in Brazil and to discuss the challenges for the implementation of endemic control and coping strategies, and to report a case of Lepromatous Leprosy, but only to the optimization of conventional drug therapy, greater adherence and possible reduction of future costs with treatment in the different population groups. It was concluded, therefore, that the patient from the clinical case report was discharged for cure only in the year 2019 due to the therapeutic insufficiency due to poor adherence to the conventional drug treatment, corroborating all the objectives proposed by the research
