Abstract

Intercurrences and barriers in the daily academic life are important when it comes to mental health. The medical course is recognized as an atmosphere exposed to constant stressful conditions, such as, fear of failure, self-charging, parental levy, and labor market impositions. This is justified by the extensive workload, curricular and extracurricular activities of the college which culminates in a greater susceptibility to appear various psychiatric disorders. This analysis aimed to instigated the possible impacts on the quality of life and learning of medical students. Regarding it, this work intends to address how hard the medical course increases the development of psychiatric disorders in undergraduate students, with emphasis on anxiety and depression. It can be concluded which prevention against the development of psychic disorders is always possible. The ways to intervene happen from early diagnosis to appropriate treatment of psychological illnesses present among undergraduates. A change in the process of medical training valuing emotional and social points can contribute to the physical and mental well-being of future professionals.
