Abstract

Periodontal disease is a disorder in several patients, regardless of their level of oral hygiene, being a multifactorial lesion that leads to great discomfort such as pains due to hypersensitivity and aesthetic dissatisfaction. However, the information regarding this change and its cause is of paramount importance to the patient and the dentist surgeon. For the treatment to be effective, it is necessary to remove the etiological factor, being the accumulation of biofilm, malocclusions, among other factors. There are several techniques that are used on the treatment of periodontal recessions and can be used for root coverage. Among the techniques, the subepithelial connective tissue graft presents a great index of therapeutic success, causing the patient to achieve a reestablishment of comfort presenting satisfactory aesthetic results, promoting clinical gain of keratinized tissue insertion and root coverage. Thus, it becomes a viable and highly predictable alternative for the treatment of periodontal recess, proving to be advantageous, improving the nutrition of the graft and eliminating the possibility of scar formation and finally, optimizing the final aesthetic appearance.
