Abstract

Introduction: Gestational low back pain can be classified in 3 ways: low back pain, pain in the pelvic girdle or combined. This pain affects the quality of life of pregnant women, limiting their activities of daily living. Low back pain affects the lower back and gluteal fold and can even radiate to the lower limbs. In this sense, physiotherapy is one of the treatments that relieve pain and improve the quality of life. Objective: To verify the performance of physiotherapy in low back pain in pregnant women and its other techniques used. Methodology: This is a bibliographic review that aimed to search for publications indexed in the following databases: Virtual Health Library (VHL), US National Library of Medicine (PUBMED), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Sciences of Health (LILACS) and Google Scholar. The keywords were used: "physiotherapy", "pregnant" and "low back pain" with articles published between the years 2015 to 2020. Results: 10 articles were selected that identified the main techniques used in low back pain. Discussion: It was observed that physiotherapy plays an important role during low back pain during pregnancy and, among the main physiotherapeutic techniques used, are muscle strengthening, aerobic exercises, kinesio taping, Pilates, RPG, hydrotherapy, segmental stabilization exercises and motor control. Conclusion: It was observed that physiotherapy uses several physiotherapeutic techniques to relieve low back pain and obtained satisfactory results.
