Abstract

The problem about dental erosion covers a wide area of research in dentistry and is a daily concern in clinical practice since it has been increasingly present in young populations causing an early mineral loss of dental structure related to several causal factors such as presence of harmful habits and changes in eating patterns. The increase in consumption of an acidic diet that can often be nutritionally recommended has become, from the point of view of oral health, an etiological factor with catastrophic effects due to the corrosive potential on tooth enamel, in addition to being frequently associated with other types. of pathological dental wear such as friction and tension, making it difficult for the clinician to identify the primary etiological factor as well as an appropriate preventive and therapeutic approach. This work aims at a critical review of the literature about dental erosion / corrosion associated with dietary factors .
