Abstract

Dental ankylosis has different types of terminology such as impaction, stopped eruption, secondary retention and incomplete eruption, also called infra occlusion, which is an anomaly defined as the anatomical fusion of the cementum and or dentin with the alveolar bone, with loss of periodontal ligament, which can occur at any stage of tooth eruption and even after the establishment of occlusal contact. The objective of this work was to detail about dental ankylosis in primary teeth, this anomaly not widespread and also to talk about the types of treatment of severe dental ankylosis in a child patient. The research was carried out through Scielo, Pubmed, Science Direct and Google Scholar, 23 articles were chosen, between 1987 and 2019. It is concluded that through the clinical and radiographic exams of an ankylated tooth it will be possible to make a correct and accurate diagnosis, allowing choosing the best treatment. The knowledge of dental ankylosis in primary teeth allows a better diagnosis and, consequently, the best approach for treatment.
